The Vineyard
In 2020 we established the vineyard. The predominate variety is Marquette, a red wine grape developed at the University of Minnesota, this variety produces good quality wine and is hardy in Iowa.

Starting in 2023 we plan to offer You Pick opportunities for the Marquette grapes for home wine making enthusiasts who would prefer to source their grapes locally. We will also offer the use of a press to get their winemaking kicked off without the mess at home.

We anxiously await the first harvest.

Young Marquette Grapes
Our Marquette grapes will be trellised on a top wire system, similar to these unripe young grapes at our previous vineyard.

A Summer Favorite...of Japanese Beetles
The leaves of the vines are a summer favorite of the Japanese beetle. Controlling the beetles without the use of pesticides is an ongoing challenge.
